My Mothers Five Hour Stew

2 lb, stew meat
1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
1 (1.5 oz.) pkg. frozen stew vegetables
1 Tbsp. sugar
3 Tbsp. quick cooking tapioca
1 can mushroom pieces, drained
1 Tbsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 C water

1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
2. Combine all ingredients in a 3 quart saucepan. Do not brown meat. Stir gently to combine
3. Cover and bake for 5 hours.

note: Try marinating the stew meat in Italian dressing for 30 minutes before combining with other ingredients.
